BMW E23, E24, & E28 Bushing Installation and Removal Instructions
General Preparation:
- Remove rear seat
- Support trailing arm
- Detach Strut
- Knock out threaded pin upwards
- Be sure not to damage threads
- Lower trailing arm
REMOVAL
E23, E24, E28 (Bushing # 1 1390 488)
- Assemble receiver cup by placing A (plate) and B (sleeve) together
- Put E (ring) on top of the B (sleeve)
- Place entire unit against bottom of support bushing and place bolt through this assembly
- Place I (arbor) on top of bushing. Line up the grooves with the two pins inside the housing
- Screw the nut onto the threaded shaft and turn to pull bushing out
INSTALLATION
E23, E24, E28 (Bushing # 1 1390 488)
- Lubricate outside of the new bushing with approved lubricant
- Fit A (plate) to the bottom of the bushing mount
- Fit S2 (arbor) on the top of the bushing and thread bolt through assembly
- Tighten bolt slowly to draw bushing into mount until properly seated
